Hello and welcome to the Apple.
I’m Mona, a 30-something dog and beach lover. I live 10 minutes from Venice Pier with my boyfriend MaineMan, our bully rescue Agnes and a cat named Tucker.
I started this blog in New York City over six years ago. What used to be my unofficial guide to New York City restaurants has become a diary of my west coast adventures.
I am a professional pet care provider, having started my own pet, home and plant care business Rascals & Roses.
The Apple has been cited on New York Magazine’s website and on Eater.com.

Monica–ever review the Mucky Duck in Monterey? in a very roundabout way my current work put CHOMP on my desk–the hospital in Carmel–not what we do to food…which put me back on a stool at the outdoor back bar at the Duck for some reason. not sure if any of this rings a bell or my email comes up on your screen but shoot me a note if it does.

i was like who is this cheek and blusters dude?? then i see that amazeballs post about the xmas tree. that is so outrageously awesome i feel like you should pitch that to late night talks shows.

You are too kind… I’ll tell you what would be amazeballs: if I could find the discipline to blog anywhere near as faithfully as you do. It’s such a relief when I come across a blog like yours, i.e., the work of someone who can really write. You even bother to spell and punctuate correctly (social media has so lowered my expectations). Your RSS feed has been added to my top tier. [*twee smiley emoticon*]
